Wildcat boys claim ELC title, girls runner-up

Even with senior standout Quinton Orr taking the night off, Humboldt's varsity boys' cross country team won the team title of the Estherville-Lincoln Central on Oct. 1 at Estherville.

Eric Wittrock finished first in 17:51, Trevor Jacobson was second in 18:13 and Nolan Jergens was third in 18:27 to lead the Wildcat boys, who totaled 31 team points. Okoboji was second at 61.
Carter Theesfeld was ninth in 19:07, Aiden Christensen 16th in 19:26, Jackson Chambers 20th in 19:36 and Cale Hundertmark 25th in 20:04.

Joslyn Orr finished fifth in 22:44 to pace the Humboldt girls, who scored 55 points. Okoboji tallied 45 to win the team title. Orr was backed by Kali Beaman, who was ninth in 23:29. Erin Wittrock ran 11th in 24;01 and Sarah Numedahl was 14th in 24:19. Brett Harklau ran 16th (24:36), Grace Smith 19th (24:58) and Sophia Harris 25th (25:29).

Next action for Humboldt will be the Dick Bell Invitational at Eagle Grove on Oct. 6. The North Central Conference race will be held Oct. 13 at Clear Lake.
