What has been both cooperative and slightly contentious over the past 11 years will soon be coming to an end.
On Monday night, the Humboldt City Council, by a 3-0 vote, agreed to terminate its law enforcement contract with the county to provide law enforcement services.
The contract is renewed on a yearly basis and was slated to run through June 30, 2021.
The action Monday night will effectively end Sheriff Dean Kruger’s run as also serving as the police administrator for the city of Humboldt, a duty he has undertaken for the past 11-plus years.
