Late field goal lifts Gilbert past Humboldt in 3A-2 finale, 31-28

A 25-yard field goal with 10 seconds left lifted the Gilbert Tigers over Humboldt Friday night (Oct. 9), 31-28 in Humboldt. It was the regular finale for both schools.

Humboldt, 4-3 overall, 2-3 in Class 3A District 2, will await Saturday’s announcement on its first round playoff opponent for Oct. 16.

Caden Matson scored on a 26-yard run and Sam Fischer returned a fumble for a Humboldt’s first half scoring. Matson passed 49 yards to Nolan Lammers and Jacob Heier caught a 33-yard scoring pass for Humboldt.
