Livermore man dies in early Saturday pickup crash

On Saturday, Oct. 10 at 5:53 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a report of a single-vehicle accident in the 1800 mile marker of Michigan Avenue, in Grove Township, four miles north of Humboldt.
Deputies responding to the scene found a heavily damaged Ford F-150 on its top in the roadway.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Ford F-150 was driving north on County K Road (County Road P-56) and continued north where the road turns into county gravel, Michigan Avenue. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the ditch and re-entered the roadway, coming to rest on its top.
As a result of the collision, Gary Berte, 58, of Livermore, was found deceased inside the vehicle. Berte was the registered owner of the F-150.
The accident remains under investigation and more details may be released as they become available.
The HCSO was assisted at the scene by Humboldt Fire and Rescue and the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Ambulance crew.
