City seeks letters for support for flashing stop signs

After years of discussion and only minor affirmative action on the issue of improved safety at the intersection of Highway 169 and Wildcat Road/4th Avenue SW, Mayor Dan Scholl is reaching out to interested parties and is trying to obtain letters of support for replacement of the current stop signs and overhead flashing beacon with solar-powered LED lighted stop signs.
“We’ve discussed before about our concerns as a city about the safety at that intersection and the reluctance of the DOT to address those concerns,” Scholl said.
“I have taken it upon myself to visit with Representative Mike Sexton and Sen. Tim Kraayenbrink and Senator Kraayenbrink responded and contacted the Senate liaison with the Iowa DOT. They said they would revisit the issue again. The senator recommended we obtain some letters of support.
Scholl said he has enlisted letters of support from local business owners in the area, crossing guard Dave Etherington and from the Humboldt Community School District. Read more about this article in this week's Humboldt Independent, your trusted source for local news and sports.
