Fischer leads 5 returning lettermen

In his first year at the helm, Humboldt boys’ basketball coach Jason Thurm guided the Wildcats to a 13-9 overall record, 8-6 and fourth in a competitive North Central Conference.
Thanks to the return of five lettermen, including second-team all-conference pick in senior Sam Fischer, and the fact Thurm’s system is already in place, expectations are high this season for Humboldt.
“We have a good group of kids coming back and the second year familiarity for me as head coach has been huge in terms of what the kids expect. Granted, not everything is going to look like last year, but it is a case where our kids can draw on what we did last year, having a grasp of our concepts,” Thurm said.
“The kids have a great attitude and they are very receptive to things. They are buying into everything we are doing with it. Our kids are working hard and we’ll do everything we can to prepare for our first week of the season,” Thurm said.
