Wildcats return 6 letterwinners

The incremental improvement of the Humboldt girls’ basketball team the last few years has Wildcat head coach Rodd Mooney feeling good about the upcoming season.
The Wildcats return six letterwinners from last year’s squad, which went 11-11 overall, 6-8 and fifth in a very tough North Central Conference.
Out of the letterwinners, five are seniors who have a wealth of experience. Leading the group is 5-10 post player Kendal Clark, a third-team all-conference pick last year. Clark averaged 11 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last year. She also made 39 assists, 53 steals and blocked 34 shots.
Others back to fuel Wildcat hopes are senior point guard Jori Hajek, senior guard Bae Arnold, senior wing guard Jayda Hoefer and senior post Emily Zaugg, along with six-foot junior post Marissa Kaufman.
“We’ve got a good nucleus of seniors coming back and kids that have gotten a lot of playing time throughout their four years. We want to keep continuing to build the program in the right direction and keep making strides forward,” said Mooney, who begins his 20th season as head coach.
