The Humboldt/Dakota City Noon Kiwanis Club is very disappointed that it is not able to open Kiwanis Christmasland to the public this year for tours of the building.
That being said, the local organization is doing all it can to bring Christmas to children in whatever ways possible.
The club is pleased to announce that it will be providing a virtual visit with Santa Claus nightly beginning on Friday, Dec. 11.
Zoom with Santa will use the Zoom meeting technology feature to allow children to visit with Santa from their home computer or mobile device.
Zoom with Santa will begin Friday, Dec. 11 from 5:30-8 p.m. and will continue every night through Wednesday, Dec. 23. There will be a special Zoom with Santa Christmas Eve day from 12-2:30 p.m.
People who have not previously used the free service can download the Zoom app from the Android Play Store or the Apple Store for mobile devices or go to the Zoom.us website for personal computers.
Log on using the following meeting ID number: 6628882666. The passcode is: 2020.
All participants must have microphone and video capability to participate in Zoom with Santa.
Visit with Santa remotely and tell him what you want for Christmas. People who enter the Zoom chat will be placed in a waiting room so Santa can visit with good girls and boys one-on-one. There is a limit of 100 participants.
Parents who have multiple children who want to speak with Santa should have them gathered around the camera, so all can speak one at a time. A participant will be able to log in only one time per evening.
This virtual experience will replace in-person meetings at Kiwanis Christmasland and Bode’s Santa Days for the 2020 holiday season.
“We want to assure children that despite the pandemic that is keeping people apart, that Santa is coming, and wants to visit with girls and boys in a safe way and to find out what they want for Christmas,” Noon Kiwanis member and Christmasland committee chair Dave Lee said.
So children should tell their parents that they want to Zoom with Santa this Christmas. It’s easy to do. See the advertisement elsewhere in this issue.
The Noon Kiwanis Club wishes the public a safe and happy holiday season.
