Wildcat wrestlers 3rd in Atlantic

The Humboldt wrestling team crowned one champion in Ty Gargano at 132 pounds and went on to place third in the team scoring of the Rollin Dyer Invitational in Atlantic on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Gargano went 4-0 on the day to lead the Wildcats. Runner-up finishers for Humboldt was Fletcher Satern at 160, Colby Clarken at 138 and Dylan Vaudt at 113.

Taking third was Jase Goodell at 126 pounds, Jayden Gargano at 106 and Colten Goodell at 220. Joe Weydert took fifth at 145 and DJ Muir was 6th at 120. Jordan Jensen was eighth at 152. Christian Alcala (170) also competed for Humboldt, which was open at three weights.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton won the team crown with 176 points. New Hampton-Turkey Valley was second at 174 and Humboldt third with 171. Bondurant-Farrar was fourth with 155 points. A total of 16 schools were on hand for the event.

Next action for Humboldt will be at the Osage Duals on Saturday, Jan. 16. Humboldt's double dual at Webster City on Jan. 14 with the Lynx and Iowa Falls-Alden has been moved to Jan. 26. Humboldt travels to Manson on Jan. 21 to face the Cougars and Algona in a makeup from December.
