NCC titles for Wildcats' Colten, Jase Goodell as Humboldt finishes 2nd in team scoring

Jase Goodell won the 126-pound class and Colten Goodell won the 220-pound division to lead the Humboldt wrestling team to a runner-up finish in the team scoring of the North Central Conference wrestling tournament in Webster City on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Jase Goodell pinned Cale Kirstein of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in the finals to improve to 25-1 on the season. Goodell is ranked in the top five in two different polls.

Colten Goodell won by forfeit over Kain Nelson of CGD at 220. Goodell moves to 22-7 overall. The Wildcats' Colby Clarken was a runner-up at 138 pounds. The senior was pinned by Reed Abbas of CGD in 1:39. Clarken is now 23-8 on the year.

Humboldt earned third-place finishes from Jayden Gargano at 106, Dylan Vaudt at 113, Joe Weydert at 145, Jordan Jensen at 152 and Fletcher Satern at 160.
Taking fourth was DJ Muir at 120, Dusty Pate at 132 and Christian Alcala at 170. Tanner McKimmey at fifth at 182 and Christian Lee sixth at 195. Ethan Kunert competed at 285 but did not place.

Humboldt returns to Webster City for a conference double dual with the Lynx and Iowa Falls-Alden on Tuesday, Jan. 26. The Wildcat JV will be at Pocahontas on Jan. 30. Post-season action begins on Saturday, Feb. 6, in a Class 2A Sectional at Spirit Lake.
