HHS girls' track team wins title at Clear Lake

The Humboldt girls' track team won three events and claimed numerous second and third-place finishes to win the team title of the Clear Lake Early Bird Relays on Tuesday, April 6 in Clear Lake.

Humboldt totaled 151.5 points to outdistance runner-up Iowa Falls-Alden, which had 128. St. Ansgar (113.5) and Algona (103) were third and fourth, respectively, in the eight-team field.

Humboldt senior Lily Groat won two events for HHS, taking the 100-meter hurdles (16.77) and 400-meter hurdles (1:11.90) events. Kendal Clark won the discus with a throw of 126-5.

Humboldt finished second in the Hampton relays on Friday, April 9. Humboldt also competed in the Fort Dodge Relays on Thursday, April 15, where Kendal Clark won both the shot put and discus events. Clark will represent the Wildcats in the Drake Relays on Thursday, April 22.

Humboldt will host its own relays on Monday, April 26, starting at 5 p.m. with the field events. Humboldt visits Storm Lake on April 29.
