Fundraising for new barns at fairgrounds

Shown is the site for a new hog barn and new horse stall barn that will be built before the 2021 Humboldt County Fair, which is July 20-26.

Fundraising efforts are underway to help pay for a new hog barn at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.
Demolition of two open air hog barns took place last fall. They will be replaced by a 60’ by 120’ enclosed building with 16’ high sidewalls. The building will have a concrete floor with 120 pens measuring 5’ by 5.’
“There was definitely a need for better facilities with room for growth,” Humboldt County Fair Board member Kevin Cordray said.
Herman Hauck is the general contractor on the building project, which is slated for completion prior to the 2021 Humboldt County Fair, which is July 20-26.
The fundraising effort, “Humboldt County Agricultural Society—Building the Future,” is now underway. The budget for the new hog barn is $200,000.
Sponsors will be recognized with a special sponsorship plaque inside the new building. Sponsorship levels include: Grand Champion Sponsor, $1,000 and above; Reserve Champion Sponsor, $500 plus; and Blue Ribbon Sponsor, $250 plus. Any size donation is welcome. Donations can be mailed to: Humboldt County Fair, PO Box 391, Humboldt, IA 50548. Questions may be directed to Fair Board members. Read the full story in this week's Humboldt Independent.
