The first steps in getting a connection from Joe Sheldon Park to the city of Humboldt will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6.
Humboldt County Conservation and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (INHF) are inviting the public to explore the great outdoors, lend a hand and connect with the community. The event will be a Sheldon Park/Lothe Woods Trail Build Day.
The project will be adding an approximately one-half mile extension to the existing trail system in Lower Sheldon Park. Work will be both Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6. Two volunteer shifts are available each day: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1 - 4:30 p.m.
No experience is necessary. Families are welcome to participate. All equipment will be provided. Participants are asked to bring gloves, a refillable water bottle, long pants and sturdy boots or solid-toe shoes that can get muddy. An RSVP is requested for this event for planning purposes. Please contact Humboldt County Conservation Director Todd Lee hccb@goldfieldaccess.net or 515-332-4087 to RSVP or ask questions.
