The Humboldt City Council was in a generous mood Monday night as the Council approved an additional $36,965.85 in salary increases.
“What I’m asking the Council to approve is a 3 percent wage increase for most city employees, which is the same as the police union for the coming year.
“However, there are several positions that have turned over quite frequently. In exit interviews, wage is always the prevailing factor,” Humboldt City Administrator Travis Goedken said.
“With what is going on in the country, workforce is tough to come by. We have a great staff, we want to make sure we can keep them,” the city administrator said.
Increases above the 3 percent level will be going to city street superintendent Chris Ubben, city administrative staff Gloria Christensen, Kayleen Fehr and Alexis Lathrop and city recreation staff Paxton Petersen, Michelle Mann and Mindi Bethke.
