Area residents will be able to tour the new Emergency Preparedness and Response Building at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital during an Open House on Monday, Aug. 2, from 4-6 p.m.
The new facility, which went into service on Tuesday, July 20, is located on 15th Street North just north of the entrance to the hospital and clinic.
The facility is available for drive-through vaccination clinics and more, and also serves as the home to the hospital’s ambulances and HCMH Foundation bus. The former ambulance garage is now being utilized by the hospital’s maintenance department. All mowers and equipment are now able to be stored inside.
Sande Construction was the general contractor on the project, which was paid for with grant funding.
“This facility offers the hospital many options from drive-through flu vaccination clinics to a place for staff to evacuate off site for safety reasons,” Michelle Sleiter, HCMH CEO, said. “The location allows quicker and safer access when the ambulances leave on a call.”
