Wildcats dominate Webster City in season opener, 35-7

Humboldt senior quarterback Caden Matson threw five touchdown passes to lead the Wildcat football team to a 35-7 demolition over the Webster City Lynx on Friday night (Aug. 27) in a non-district season football opener in Webster City.

Matson and teammate Will Orness hooked for three touchdown passes covering 10 yards, three and eight, respectively. Matson also passed to Jacob Heier for a pair of TD scores covering 77 yards in the first quarter and 69 yards late in the first half to give Humboldt a 21-0 halftime lead.

Webster City scored on a CJ Hisler two-yard run with 4:29 left in the fourth quarter.

Humboldt will return home to host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Friday, Sept. 3.
