Davis seeks at-large school board seat

Shane Davis of Humboldt is seeking election to the Humboldt School Board this fall. He is running for the seat currently held by Suzanne Newton. Other board members seeking re-election are Tate Satern, Robert Myott and James Mertz.

Shane Davis, president of the Humboldt Athletic Booster Club, is seeking an at-large seat on the Humboldt School Board. Davis is running for a seat being vacated by Suzanne Newton.
Current Directors Tate Satern (District 1), Robert Myott (District 3) and James Mertz (District 4) are running unopposed for re-election. Mertz is running to fill a vacancy for the unexpired term of Kathy Yoakam.
Humboldt is a Plan C school district, meaning that while some school board directors must be residents of a particular area of the district, all are elected on an at-large basis, meaning that all voters in the district can vote for all candidates.
The other area school board races are pretty much status quo. There are only two candidates for three seats in the Twin Rivers School District.
Regarding city elections, there are contested races for mayor in the towns of Thor, Gilmore City and Lu Verne, and contested city council races in several towns, Humboldt is not one of them. Dan Scholl is running for mayor unopposed and at-large incumbent council members Mike Worthington and Kirk Whittlesey are running with no opposition. Jerod Hatcher and Ross Sleiter are running for two seats on the Humboldt Park and Recreation Commission.
