City of Humboldt sells garbage stickers

The yellow and blue garbage bags for the City of Humboldt are in short supply. The bags are sold out at Hy-Vee and Fareway and only a few remain at Humboldt City Hall. As an alternative, the city is asking citizens to purchase stickers at the customer service counters at local supermarkets or City Hall. They are 6 for $5.

This is how to properly attach the sticker to your existing plastic garbage bag.

Humboldt City Hall reports that there is still a shortage of yellow and blue garbage bags available.
Humboldt City Clerk Gloria Christensen reports that Waste Zero, the city’s contracted supplier, says there is a shortage of resin needed to produce the colored city of Humboldt garbage bags and does not know when more will be produced.
As a solution, Hy-Vee, Fareway and Humboldt City Hall are selling garbage bag stickers. They are sold as a six-sticker pack for $5. They may be attached to any clear or opaque commercially sold plastic garbage bag. Attach to the top draw string of the bag by folding over. One sticker per bag please. There is a 50-pound limit for the contents of plastic garbage bags.
Citizens are encouraged to purchase the stickers and utilize them if they do not have a blue or yellow city of Humboldt garbage bags.
Any questions may be directed to Humboldt City Hall at (515) 332-3435.
