Supervisors report on windmill blades

These disassembled windmill turbine parts have been sitting next to Union Cemetery since early this past summer. The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors said they don't like the items sitting there, but it is a private land matter. Humboldt Independent photo.

County Supervisor Bruce Reimers brought up an issue at Monday's weekly meeting that has drawn a lot of attention this past summer and fall. That is the large sections of windmill blades being stored just east of Union Cemetery.
Reimers said a private landowner is leasing space to a trucking company to temporarily store the blades there, as “Humboldt is the halfway point between where the blades are being taken from and where they are going to be recycled. This is the offloading point,” the District 1 Supervisor said.
