A pair of architect proposals were approved by the Humboldt School Board at their regular meeting on Monday night, Dec. 20.
A contract with Allers Associates Architects PC was approved for designing additional classroom space for both Taft Elementary School and Humboldt Middle School. The contract, submitted by Terry Allers, is for 7 percent of the project cost.
A contract was also approved with Sande Construction to serve as architect for facility improvements at Humboldt High School, which could include additional space for the wrestling room, weight room, gym, potential office space and a secure main entrance. The contract submitted by Joel Armitage of Sande Construction says they will do the architectural work at no charge. The contract does not include mechanical work, which would be done by an engineering firm.
Humboldt School Superintendent Jim Murray said Sande Construction will need to submit a competitive bid for the construction portion of the project. Read more school news in this week's Humboldt Independent, your source for local news and sports.
