HHS boys top Titans, girls fall

Humboldt's varsity girl/boy basketball teams divided a home doubleheader with South Central Calhoun on Jan. 11 in non-conference action.

The Wildcats girls fell 63-41 to the 10th ranked (Class 2A) Titans. SCC moved to 10-1 while the Wildcat girls slipped to 7-6 overall.

Humboldt's boys, ranked 5th in Class 3A, had five players score in double figures to upend the Titans, who are ranked in the top five in Class 2A. Ben Kuehnast scored 20 points to lead Humboldt. Trevor Jacobson and Jacob Heier each had 13 while Will Orness and Josh Thurm both had 12 apiece for Humboldt, which moved to 10-0 overall on the season.

Humboldt will return to action at home on Thursday, Jan. 13 against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in NCC action. It will be a JV-varsity four-game night of basketball.
