Humboldt 3-pointers too much for CGD, 77-60

In a batted of ranked unbeatens, the Humboldt boys' basketball team took sole possession of first-place in the North Central Conference standings by beating the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys, 77-60 in the Humboldt gym Thursday night (Jan. 13).

Humboldt blistered the nets from 3-point range, making 16 altogether on the night. Will Orness sank five from long range while Jacob Heier and Trevor Jacobson each had four. Josh Thurm hit two.

Orness scored 18 points to lead Humboldt. Heier netted 14 while Caden Matson and Jacobson each hit for 12. Humboldt improved to 11-0 overall, 6-0 in the NCC. Humboldt is ranked fifth in Class 3A.

CGD, 11-1, 6-1, was led by Connor State and Jaxon Carpenter with 15 apiece.

Humboldt returns to action at home on Tuesday, Jan. 18 against Webster City.
