On Monday night, the Humboldt School Board set Monday, March 21, at 5:30 p.m. for a public hearing on the proposed issuance of approximately $10 million in school infrastructure sales, services and use tax revenue bonds.
The funds would be used for improvements the school is planning for Taft Elementary, Humboldt Middle School and at Humboldt High School.
There would not be any tax increase for the projects. The $10 million in revenue bonds would be repaid with sales tax revenue the school district receives each year.
Because the school plans to use some of the money at the sports complex for restroom improvements and field improvements, a separate public hearing is required by state law since the project is not connected directly to a school building. That public hearing was set for March 21 at 5:35 p.m. It involves a budget of up to $2 million.
“We just want to be clear it’s still a total of $10 million, not $10 million plus $2 million,” Superintendent Jim Murray said.
