Swanson coming off 2nd place finish in NHRA Midwest division

Goldfield native Afton Swanson begins her 22nd season drag racing with hopes of having her best season yet in 2022.
Swanson and her husband, Joe, a Humboldt native, who live and work in the Cedar Falls area, are coming off a runner-up finish in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Division 5 Midwest Region.
“Last year was our best season so far. We finished second in the NHRA Division 5 (the Midwest region). This is the highest we’ve ever finished in points and it puts us in the running for a special series called the Jegs All Stars, which will take place at the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend,” Swanson said.
