Last Friday, March 25, at 5 p.m., marked the deadline for turning in nomination papers to run for county office in the June 7 primary.
There are no contested races in the county as four of five incumbents are running for office.
The lone exception is Humboldt County Treasurer Jana Bratland. Bratland, of Dakota City, is retiring at the end of the calendar year after 17.5 years in office. Bratland started as the county treasurer in 2005, after a career in banking. She succeeded Pat Albrecht in the office.
“Time has gone fast. When I started out, what I knew about being the treasurer was from what I learned from being a customer," Bratland said.
Another Jana from Dakota City, Jana Pettinger, will be running for county treasurer as a Republican.
She has served as the deputy treasurer and has worked in the treasurer’s office specializing in taxes for the past 11 years.
Diane Amundson is seeking re-election as the county’s recorder and is running unopposed for a second four-year term.
Jonathan Beaty is running unopposed as the Humboldt County attorney. Beaty has served that position for the past 11 years.
All three county supervisors up for election are running unopposed in the June 7 primary on the Republican ballot. They are Bruce Reimers of Humboldt in District 1, Sandy Loney of Humboldt in District 2 and Rick Pedersen of rural Humboldt in District 3.
