Humboldt girls place 7th in 3A state golf

Humboldt ended its season by placing seventh in the team scoring of the Class 3A girls’ state golf tournament at Adel on Friday (May 27).

The Wildcats finished with 828 strokes. Conference foe Clear Lake was the team champion with a 713, rallying to beat Gilbert which had 716. Dubuque Wahlert was third with 750, followed by Lisbon with 785. West Delaware (799) and Washington (805) finished ahead of Humboldt in the 10-team field of schools.

Humboldt senior Nora Carlson capped her brilliant career by placing fourth individually with 166. Rylee Heryford of Newton won with 149.

Other scores for Humboldt: Ashlee Wergeland 219, Noelle Hamand 221, Aries Packard 222, Chloe Mayall 230, Adalynn Lawman 249.
