Humboldt High senior Kayla Gieber, who emerged as a strong volleyball player up front at the net for the Wildcats the last two years, will take her talents to Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.

Kayla Gieber signed a national letter of intent earlier this week to join the Tritons. Iowa Central head coach Sara Horn and assistant Gabby Sullivan were in Humboldt for the signing of the six-foot Gieber.

“This feels great now that it’s official. Now I’m ready to start college,” Gieber said.

“I went to summer camps for Iowa Central and they noticed my skills. I knew that I needed to keep pushing to improve in my senior year so that I could get a scholarship and play there. That’s what I was striving for and now it’s happened,” Gieber said.

“Academically I’m going to study radiology. Since I’ll need to get my pre-requisites done in the classroom, I’ll be going there for three years,” said Gieber, the daughter of Chris and Tammy Gieber of Humboldt.
