Humboldt boys 6th in NCC track

Humboldt's varsity boys' track team placed sixth in the North Central Conference meet at Webster City on May 4.

The Wildcats finished with 63.5 points in a competitive field, won by Algona at 151 and Clear Lake second with 139. Iowa Falls-Alden was third at 117.5, Hampton-Dumont-CAL had 87.5. Webster City was fifth with 79. St. Edmond was seventh with 58 and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows last at 43. Humboldt's Mason Van Pel won the 800-meters in 2:02.58. The shuttle hurdle relay was runner-up.

Humboldt boys win Storm Lake track title
Humboldt won five events and claimed the team title of the Storm Lake Relays on Thursday, April 27 in Storm Lake.

The Wildcats totaled 120 points to finish ahead of runner-up Newell-Fonda, which had 115. Carroll was third at 104 and Pocahontas Area fourth with 89 in the seven-school field of teams.

Isaiah Busick won the shot put for Humboldt with a throw measuring 45-6.75. Jackson Dodd won the 110-meter hurdles in 17.04 seconds and then claimed the 400-meter hurdles in 59.4 seconds.

Mason Van Pelt won the 800-meters in 2:05.23. Humboldt's distance medley relay of Keegan Groat, Landyn Dencklau, Elliot Carlson and Mason Van Pelt took first in 3:50.12.

The state qualifying meet will be Thursday, May 11, at Nevada. The state meet is May 18-20 in Des Moines.
