HHS girls 6th in regional golf

Humboldt’s varsity girls’ golf season came to a close by placing sixth in a Class 3A regional tournament at Storm Lake on May 17.

The Wildcats finished with 414 strokes. Clear Lake was the team champion with 339 while MOC-Floyd Valley was second with 381. Sioux Center took third at 383, Spencer fourth with 386 and Harlan sixth with 398. Algona was behind Humboldt in seventh at 418. A total of 12 schools were in the tournament.

Aries Packard led Humboldt with a 93. She was 10th overall. Noelle Hamand was 13th with a 95. McKenna Mathis shot 106, followed by Macy Berte at 132 and Morgan Mayall with 145.

Meghan DeLong of Clear Lake was medalist in shooting a 77. Rebecca DeLong of Clear Lake was runner-up at 78. Hope Faber of Sioux Center was third with 84 and Mo McDermott of Spencer was fourth at 85. Abby Brooks of Algona was sixth with 86 and Macey Holck of Clear Lake was sixth with an 87.
