4th quarter surge lifts HHS boys past Garrigan, 64-55
Humboldt overcame a sluggish first half and put together a strong fourth quarter surge to turn back Algona Bishop Garrigan, 64-55 on Jan. 15 in North Central Conference boys' basketball action in the Humboldt gym.
Michael Orness scored 22 points and Bryan Larson finished with 19 to power the Wildcats, who won their ninth straight game and improved to 10-2 on the season, 9-2 in the NCC. The Wildcats also got six points from Brady Ross, four from Jaylen Heinz and three from Nick Heider. Matt Pogge added two. Garrigan, 9-6 overall, 7-5 in the NCC, was led by Nathan Krieps with 21 points and John Burns with 17.
HHS STOPS EAGLE GROVE, 69-52
Humboldt won its 10th straight game by stopping Eagle Grove, 69-52 Friday night (Jan. 18) at Eagle Grove. Larson scored 29 points to lead the Wildcats, who are now 11-2 on the season, 10-2 in the NCC. Humboldt returns to action at Fort Dodge St. Edmond on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
