Art with a local connection wanted
The Humboldt Area Arts Community (HAAC) invites people to come “Home For The Holidays,” for a viewing of collected art from the area during the past 150 years.
As a final event honoring the city’s sesquicentennial in 2013, the Arts Community will be having the special art show on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 2-5 p.m., at the Humboldt Arts Center, 906 Sumner Ave.
“This special showing coincides with the 150th anniversary or sesquicentennial of the city and is a fine tribute to all of the great artisans who have been a part of our wonderful community over the years,” HAAC Board member and organizer Jana Terwilliger said.
“Please join us in seeing these paintings, may of which are on loan to us from private collections. They are all assured to take your memories a step back in time and your hearts Home for the Holidays,” Terwilliger said.
Terwilliger said HAAC has been pleased to locate some of the paintings featured in a centennial art show that was held at the Humboldt Public Library back in 1963.
“Over 75 paintings were displayed and 59 artists featured during the celebration in 1963. While we have a listing of those artists and works and have some of the paintings, we are really looking to display and acknowledge some of the local artists and talents of the past 50 years. If you know of someone who loves to paint on canvas with oils, watercolors, inks, chalk, charcoal or any kind of medium, please consider entering it for the Nov. 23 show,” Terwilliger said.
For more information, contact Terwilliger at (515) 604-5231 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Artwork will need to be submitted by Tuesday, Nov. 19, for the show.
