With two recent Humboldt County Fair Queens running the 2014 Humboldt County Fair Queen Contest one might expect some changes.
Former Humboldt County Fair Queens Jackie Bleich (2010) and Molly Terwilliger (2011) are helping reshape the Humboldt County Fair Queen Contest. Both are members of the Humboldt Business and Professional Women (BPW), which has run the Fair Queen Contest for many decades. The Fair Queen Contest is sponsored by the Humboldt County Fair Board.
One big thing that is new this year is the Humboldt County Fair Queen will receive a total of $1,000 in scholarship funds and the runnerup will receive a $250 scholarship.
The contest is open to young women ages 16-21. Any young women who does the majority of her activities in Humboldt County is eligible. The deadline for entering the contests is noon on Wednesday, June 11.
Terwillger and Bleich have created a Facebook page where girls can ask questions and access an entry form. Entry forms are also available at the Humboldt County Fair Web site (www.humboldtcountyfair.com).
