County business for 2013 officially began Wednesday, Jan. 2, as the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors had their first new meeting of the year.
Four supervisors, John “Mort” Christianson, Jerry Haverly, Harlan Hansen and Rick Pedersen were given the oath of office by District Court Judge Kurt Stoebe. Humboldt County Auditor Peggy Rice and Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger were also sworn in for their duties.
Pedersen is the lone new supervisor on the board. He run for the nearly created District 3, which includes the southeast portion of the city of Humboldt, all of Beaver Township, with the exception of Dakota City, and the southern half of Norway Township, with the exception of the city of Thor.
In action at Wednesday’s meeting, the board approved annexation and reclassification for Drainage District No. 61, lateral 7, located four miles south of Ottosen.
The board also gave approval to the Humboldt County multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan, and approved county appointments to boards and commissions for the coming year.
