HCDA report highlights expansion

Humboldt County Economic Development Director Alissa Reinholdt said the recruitment of Voyager Industries, along with strong local expansion efforts have kept Humboldt County growing during the past two years.

Sometimes a look beyond retail sales and leading economic indicators is needed to assess whether a community is thriving, striving or slowly in decline.
According to many economic indicators, Humboldt County is booming in a quiet, yet consistent way, showing very positive signs for growth in the future.
On Monday, Humboldt County Economic Development Director Alissa Reinholdt presented a biennial report to both the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors and the Humboldt City Council.
In sharing the report of the Humboldt County Development Association, the group that Reinholdt oversees, there were many positive signs to show that business recruitment and retention as well as industry expansion is on the way up.
Reinholdt said that from new business recruitment to existing industry expansions, the capital investment made in Humboldt County over the past two years has exceeded $4 million.
During that time, HCDA has partnered with six local industry expansions, resulting in a capital investment of $4.5 million, more than 40 new jobs created, 150 local jobs retained and $1.6 million plus in additional property tax valuation.
