HCMH Ambulance is best in the state

For the third time in the past 12 years, the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service has received the Iowa EMS Association’s Volunteer Ambulance Service of the Year Award.
The 2012 award comes after receiving the same distinction in 2000 and 2002, as well as runner-up honors in 2011.
“It’s quite an honor considering there are more than 800 volunteer ambulance services in the state of Iowa,” HCMH Ambulance Director Mike Sexe said.
The hospital’s 31-member volunteer service had to be nominated for the award and meet a series of strict criteria that show that the ambulance service made significant advancement in patient care and ambulance services offered during the past 12 months. HCMH Ambulance Service also received letters of support from individuals and organizations in the community.
According to Sexe, the big addition in the form of patient care advancement was the addition of two LifePak 12 defibrillators that the ambulance service was able to purchase early in the year.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to the HCMH Foundation and the community for their support in purchasing the two LifePak’s,” Sexe said.
