HHS girls hold off Clarion-Goldfield, fall at St. Edmond

Maddie Thomas and Kessa Kuyper combined to sink 3 free throws in the final 33 seconds to help Humboldt's girls hold off Clarion-Goldfield, 43-40 Friday night (Jan. 25) at Clarion. The win improved Humboldt's season record to 6-10 overall, 5-9 in the North Central Conference.

Erica Lane scored 11 points to lead the Wildcats. Lane was backed by Thomas with eight and Lauren Friesth with seven. Sarah Peters, April Jones and Kuyper each had four and Kinzie Wright made three. Karlee Peyton chipped in with two. C-G was led by Stephanie Steiner and Brook Boyd with nine each.

Conference power Fort Dodge St. Edmond defeated Humboldt for the second time this season, posting a 55-31 triumph over the Wildcats Tuesday night (Jan. 22) in Fort Dodge. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Erica Lane and Lauren Friesth each with 7 points. Lindsey Johnson was next with 6 and Maddie Thomas added 5.
