Humboldt boys in 7-1 victory over Eagles
Humboldt clubbed 10 hits and Chris Witzke pitched seven innings of 3-hit ball to lead the Wildcat varsity baseball team to a 7-1 victory over Eagle Grove Friday night (June 27) in Humboldt. The North Central Conference triumph improved Humboldt's record to 15-4 overall, 8-3 in the NCC.
Humboldt took a 3-0 lead on Hampton-Dumont and held on for a 4-3 victory in Humboldt on June 25th. The conference victory improved Humboldt's record to 14-4 overall, 7-3 in the NCC. Austin Zylstra and Connor Vitzthum combined to pitch an 8-hitter for Humboldt. Zylstra, Chris Witzke and Devon Clark each had two hits for Humboldt's 8-hit batting attack.
Humboldt avenged an early season loss to Algona Bishop Garrigan by dominating the Bears, 12-1 Monday night (June 23) in a conference game at Algona. Brenden Schnell pitched six strong innings for Humboldt and Connor Vitzthum fanned three in the seventh for Humboldt, which scored four runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh. The Wildcats finished with 14 hits. Humboldt improved 13-4 overall on the season, 6-3 in conference play.
No. 3 ranked Clear Lake scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to down Humboldt, 2-1 Friday night (June 20) in a North Central Conference baseball game in Humboldt. Humboldt pitcher Chris Witzke went the distance for the Wildcats. Clear Lake moved to 16-2, 7-0 in the NCC.
The Wildcats host North Union on July 1. Clarion-Goldfield comes to Humboldt on July 2. Humboldt is set to visit Algona on July 3.
