Humboldt boys down Storm Lake in finale, 75-68 in OT
Humboldt's boys ended their regular season in winning fashion Thursday night at home with a 75-68 non-conference overtime victory over Storm Lake. Brady Ross poured in 30 points, Michael Orness made 14, Nick Heider had 13 and Bryan Larson 10 to lead Humboldt, which improved to 15-6 overall on the season. The Wildcats also got four points from Matt Pogge and two each from Jaylen Heinz and Ben Jacobson.
The game was tied at 63-63 at the end of regulation. Humboldt outscored the Tornadoes 12-5 in the extra session to earn the victory.
FORT DODGE 60, HUMBOLDT 41
Fort Dodge held off a second half rally by Humboldt and went on to defeat the Wildcats, 60-41 in a non-conference boys basketball game in Fort Dodge Monday night (Feb. 11).
The Wildcats were led in scoring by Brady Ross with 14 points. Michael Orness and Bryan Larson each had seven while Jaylen Heinz made four. Jaxon Heinz added two, along with Ben Jacobson and Matt Pogge. Ben Madison also had two and Nick Heider made one. Fort Dodge improved to 7-12 with the win.
Humboldt won the junior varsity game by a 45-42 final count in overtime.
Humboldt will host Algona on Monday, Feb. 18, in a Class 3A District Tournament first round game at 7 p.m. See complete story in the Humboldt Independent Newspaper.
