Humboldt girls rip NU, IFA
Humboldt's girls made it a clean sweep of the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets this season by posting a 68-33 triumph on Feb. 11 in Humboldt. The triumph improved Humboldt's record to 12-8 overall, 11-6 in the North Central Conference. Kessa Kuyper led four players in double figures scoring with 14 points. Maggy Duffield finished with 11 while Avery Terwilliger and Lauren Friesth each had 10.
Humboldt opened with a 25-0 lead over North Union and never looked back in rolling up a 54-24 victory on Feb. 10 in Armstrong. Avery Terwilliger scored 10 points and Kessa Kuyper and Lauren Friesth each had eight for the Wildcats. Lindsey Johnson made seven, Autumn Hauser six and Maggy Duffield five. Sarah Peters and Kenzie Ross each had four. Madison Thomas, Abbey Gargano and Brittney Nilles made two each.
The Wildcats entertain Clear Lake on Thursday, Feb. 13, in their final game of the regular season. They host Forest City in a Class 3A first round Regional Tournament game on Saturday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m. in the Humboldt gym. The winner of that contest will play at Spirit Lake on Feb. 19 against Spirit Lake or Estherville-LC.
