No. 3 Lions turn back Humboldt girls, 64-46
No. 3 ranked (Class 3A) Clear Lake turned back a determined effort by the Humboldt girls Thursday night (Feb. 13) with a 64-46 victory over the Wildcats in the Humboldt gym. It was the regular season finale for both teams, who begin post-season tournament play on Saturday.
Humboldt, 12-9 overall, 11-7 in the North Central Conference, was led in scoring by Lauren Friesth with 20 points and Kessa Kuyper with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Maddie Thomas made six points and Abbey Gargano four. Avery Terwilliger two.
The Wildcats will host Forest City in a first round regional tournament game Saturday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m. in the Humboldt gym.
