Wildcat girls sweep Cherokee in 3A regional opener
Humboldt opened Class 3A regional volleyball tournament play in successful fashion Monday night by sweeping Cherokee in three sets in the Humboldt gym. The Wildcats won by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-20. The triumph moved Humboldt's record to 20-9 overall. Humboldt advances into a regional semifinal round match at Algona on Thursday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m. Algona eliminated Hampton-Dumont in three sets Monday night. The winner of Thursday's match will advance to a regional final in the Spencer gym on Tuesday, Nov. 5, against Sergeant Bluff-Luton or MOC-Floyd Valley. MOC-FV defeated OA-BCIG Monday night while SB-L topped Sioux Center.
