Wildcats shutout South Central Calhoun, 14-0
Humboldt's varsity football team improved to 2-0 on the season Friday night (Sept. 6) by shutting out South Central Calhoun, 14-0 in a hard-fought, non-district game at Lake City. The Wildcats got a 2-yard touchdown run by Brady Ross late in the third quarter and Nikko Wheeler scored on a 5-yard dive with 57 seconds left in the game to spark the Wildcats. HUMBOLDT RUNS PAST COWBOYS IN OPENER, 42-12
Brady Ross rushed for three touchdowns, Nikko Wheeler scored on a five-yard run and Jaxon Heinz returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to lead Humboldt past Clarion-Goldfield, 42-12 Friday night (Aug. 30) in a season-opening non-conference high school football game in Humboldt.
Ross scored on runs of 30, 72 and 17 yards as Humboldt broke open a close game in the second half after leading 14-6 at halftime.
The Wildcats will return to action at South Central Calhoun on Sept. 6 in another non-district game.
