The Humboldt County housing market remained the picture of consistency in 2013, not varying much from the previous year or quarter-to-quarter.
That’s the conclusion drawn from facts compiled by John Westphal, a real estate agent with Smith Real Estate in Humboldt.
According to the figures compiled by John Westphal, real estate agent for Smith Realty in Humboldt, in 2013, 87 homes sold in Humboldt for a total price of $9,304,400. The mean price of the homes was $106,947.
In Dakota City, 19 homes sold, totaling $1,000,175, with a mean price of $52,640.
A total of 45 homes sold in the surrounding towns of Bode, Livermore, Gilmore City, Bradgate, Thor, Hardy and Rolfe. The total sales price was $1,492,800, with a mean of $33,173.
Compared to 2012, 10 fewer homes sold in Humboldt in 2013. Six more homes sold in Dakota City in ‘13, compared to 2012. In the surrounding communities listed above, 11 more homes sold in 2013, than in 2012.
“Our market has stayed quite consistent in real estate sales and we haven’t seen the fluctuations of more urban communities in recent years," Westphal said.
