The Humboldt High School Music Department is teaming up with the Humboldt Area Arts Council and Rustix to present the second annual Jazz in January this Saturday, Jan. 19.
The event will be held in the Rustix banquet hall and will feature the Humboldt High School Jazz Band and an art display of works by school district teachers and staff. The high school jazz band has been working together since September.
Their first performance was at District Jazz Band Festival in December. At Jazz in January, the band will present an extended program featuring classic swing tunes from Duke Ellington, traditional blues charts Riffin' Around and St. Louis Blues, and I Can't Get Started, a ballad featuring trumpet soloist Lucas Yoakam.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and music begins at 7 p.m. This concert is free and open to the public.
