Algona rallied from 13 points down early in the fourth quarter and went on to upend Humboldt, 57-55 in overtime in a North Central Conference boys' basketball game in the Humboldt gym Tuesday night (Jan. 29).
Bryan Larson scored 19 points and Jaxon Heinz made 18 to lead the Wildcats, who slipped to 12-4 overall, 11-4 in the North Central Conference. Humboldt also got six points from Brady Ross, four from Jaylen Heinz, three from Alex Nelson and two each from Matt Pogge and Ben Jacobson.
Algona (6-11, 6-9), which tied the game at 48-48 at the end of regulation, was led by Sawyer Frideres with 24 points and Luke TerHark with 18. The pair combined to hit seven 3-point baskets for the Bulldogs.
Next action for Humboldt is Friday, Feb. 1 at Webster City. The Wildcats visit Iowa Falls on Feb. 5 and host Clear Lake on Feb. 7.
