Humboldt girls qualify for 4A state golf!

The Humboldt High School girls' golf team earned a trip to the Class 4A State Tournament after placing runner-up in a regional at Storm Lake on Monday (May 20). The Wildcats totaled 414 strokes to hold off third-place Carroll (419). Clear Lake was the regional champ with 374 strokes. Humboldt's Savannah Schnetzer led the Wildcats in shooting 93. Caitlin Kohlhaas shot a 95. Ashley Samuelson, Shelby Shepard and Taylor Weydert each had 113. The state meet will be held in Ames May 28-29. Larson runs 5th in state track

DES MOINES - Sam Larson placed fifth in the 1,500-meters in the Class 3A State track and field championships in Des Moines on Saturday, May 18. Larson was also sixth in the 3,000-meters on opening day of the meet held at Drake Stadium.Larson finished the 1,500 in 4:56.45 and ran 10:49.07 in the 3,000. The Wildcats also had senior discus thrower Erica Lane place ninth at 114' 1" and the 4x800 relay also placed ninth in 9:52.33. Brittney Nilles, April Jones, Sam Larson and Maddie Kampen comprised the relay. The shuttle hurdle relay ran 18th in 1:11.45, consisting of Nilles, Maggy Duffield, Lane and Kaitlyn Jensen.Humboldt's Jacob Miller ran 20th in the boys' 3A 3,200-meters in 10;38.12.See the Humboldt Independent Newspaper for complete story and photos. Wildcat boys win sectional golf title, place 3rd in district meet

CARROLL - Humboldt's bid to return to the Class 3A State Golf Tournament fell short Friday (May 17) when the Wildcats finished third among five teams in a district meet in Carroll to see their season come to a close.Humboldt finished with a 317 total. Creston and Atlantic both totaled 304 with Creston winning the tie-breaker for first. They both advance to state. Christian Birdsell shot 77 to pace Humboldt. Colton Schnetzer and Jaxon Heinz both had 78 while Brenden Schnell shot 84. Landon Schnetzer (85) and Austen Gargano (93) round out the scoring.WIN SECTIONAL TITLE!Humboldt claimed a Class 3A sectional boys golf tournament title at Spencer on Friday. Humboldt finished with 313 strokes to surpass runner-up Spencer at 318 and Storm Lake with 319. Christian Birdsell and Jaxon Heinz each shot 77 to pace HHS while Colton Schnetzer had 78 and Brenden Schnell shot 81. Austen Gargano added an 85 and Landon Schnetzer carded an 88.

HHS girls fall in finale, 3-2

Humboldt's varsity girls' soccer team wrapped up their regular season at Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Thursday night (May 16) in a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals.
