Changes for the mayoral seats in the communities of Bode, Gilmore City, Bradgate and Thor, as well as several new faces on city councils highlighted the local city elections held Nov. 5, in Humboldt County. Incumbent mayors were unseated in the communities of Bode and Thor, while other incumbents retained their seats in races, including one decided by a handful of votes in the town of Livermore. In Humboldt, incumbent Mayor Walter Jensen breezed to re-election with 170 votes. Barry Ellis, who had ran against Jensen in the past, announced an 11th-hour write-in candidacy. For Humboldt City Council, there were two at-large council seats but only one declared candidate. Longtime council member Darrell Rusher was re-elected with 157 votes. The second at-large four-year term was filled by write-in, as incumbent Joe Hadar did not seek re-election.
