The Humboldt boys basketball team moved into a Class 3A substate tournament final by turning back Gilbert, 63-43 Thursday night (Feb. 27) in the Fort Dodge Senior High gym. The Wildcats outscored the Tigers 19-9 in the final quarter to break the game open. Jaxon Heinz scored 29 points to power Humboldt. Austin Zylstra had nine, Jack Curran eight, Nick Heider seven and Brady Ross six.The Wildcats, now 15-7 on the year, advance within one game of the state tournament. Humboldt will face No. 8 rated Carroll (18-4), which downed Ballard Huxley, 63-43 in the other district final.
