Humboldt's dream season came to a close Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 11) as top-seed and No. 3 ranked Harlan downed the Wildcats, 64-44 in a Class 3A first round game in the boys state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.Humboldt led early, 5-1, but fell behind midway through the first quarter and couldn't get anything going offensively as Harlan went on to a 34-15 halftime lead and never looked back as they advance into a semifinal round game. Humboldt, 16-8 on the season, was led in scoring by Jack Curran with 14 points. Brady Ross and Austin Zylstra each had eight, followed by Thomas Orness with six and Jaxon Heinz with four. Harlan was led by 6-foot-7 center Trey Lansman with 20 points.Harlan (23-2) moved on to face Dubuque Wahlert (21-4) in the semifinal round. Wahlert defeated Chariton, 81-59 in another first round game.
