GC-B and WB-M look at continued sharing

School officials from Gilmore City-Bradgate and West Bend-Mallard will continue to look at ways to share services to keep costs down. During a joint meeting of the two school boards on April 16 in West Bend, WB-M Superintendent Amanda Schmidt and GC-B Superintendent Jeff Herzberg agreed to continue to discussion on sharing opportunities. “We’ll talk about how things have went in terms of the maintenance position and see if there are any other opportunities that we might recommend to the board at one of our upcoming meetings,” Herzberg said. “We love the idea of sharing and utilizing resources, but we’re not sure yet what that will look like, so we’ll continue to look for more opportunities,” Herzberg said. The Iowa Legislature recently passed a new sharing incentive formula for districts that share the positions of superintendent, transportation, maintenance, business manager and human resource.
